Regardless of how clean one may look in their white tee, there will always be one inescapable drawback to this classic top: it’s plain. Assembly’s latest unconventional art show, dubbed The Flossin’ Tee Party, promises to deliver t-shirts with a little bit more to them. At 9PM on October 14th at Thornton Threads, Assembly will kick off its latest Orlando show, the fashion infused Flossin’ Tee Party. No, they won’t be making a statement about unjust tarrifs by dressing up like Native Americans and tossing perfectly good t-shirts into lake Eola. Instead, using t-shirts as canvasses, local artists will use varying techniques to create wearable compositions which patrons may purchase for between $15 and $40. Patrons will vote on the designs to determine a winner, who will receive a gift package from Thornton Threads. Shirts are great to look at, but if you’re worried that your mouth and ears will be bored while your eyes are having all the fun, don’t worry. DJ E-Resso from iBar and KittyBat from Firestone will be spinning some tunes while you enjoy food provided by Black Bean Deli. Other sponsors include Redken and Republic. If none of that quite stirs your soul, we’ve also been told to expect beer and wine. So when October 14th rolls around, throw on you freshest t-shirt, run down to Thornton Threads, and dip into your beer fund to purchase some local art, for these tees will be truly flossin’.
