Upcoming Show Boasts Stencil Art, BeerBy now you may be familiar with local art organization Assembly's tactics: transform an unconventional location into a makeshift gallery and display art from local artists. This month's "Overspray", an upcoming Assembly show which is being described as a "reinterpretation of public art", is no exception. As the title suggests, we're talking spraypaint. Stenciled spraypaint, to be specific, which has been gaining popularity in recent years, much to the chagrin of law enforcers and sundry other "buzzkills". Not only will there be over thirty spray-paint themed pieces on display, but guests are invited to bring "old items for artists to renew." And the unconventional venue this time around? The Orlando Brewery, which is good news for you, becasue their home-brewed brain-numbing nectar is gonna be complimentary. It's also good news because their facilities allow for live music and painting outdoors, which you can check out after you view the audio and video installations indoors. "Overspray" is going down August 19th from 7PM to 2AM, if your interest has been piqued sufficiently. Besides, Snakes on a Plane comes out a full day before the show, so you've got plenty of time to see both. story by Jack Cusumano MORE INFO: Assembly Art Party |
