![]() The summer’s winding down and you’re kicking yourself for all the promises you’ve already broken. You swore you’d party a good deal more than you did, you said you’d get a job so you could stop wasting your parents’ money on Netflix and beer, and you certainly thought you’d see way more shows. Well on July 3rd you’ll be able to rest a little easier when you attend what’s sure to be the jump-off to get you back on track to the summer you envisioned: The Heathens’ cd release party at The Social. The Heathens have been winning over local fans with their own country tinged, jangly brand of rock and roll since 2005. Since then, they’ve played sold out shows with the likes of Hank Williams III, The Pernice Brothers, The Wynn Brothers and others. Now they’re preparing to embark on an ambitious 20 date US tour to spread their alt-country gospel to the outside world, so you’d better catch them before they go. Big White House, their latest full length effort, drops on July 4th, the day after the show. These 15 tracks were produced by Rob McGregor (Hot Water Music, Alkaline Trio and Rumble Seat, to name a few) and mastered by Roger Siebel (Pavement, Modest Mouse, Built to Spill), the album’s naturally built up quite a bit of anticipation. It’s being released by Post*Records, the self proclaimed “nicest label in the universe”, which is based right here in Orlando. So perhaps your summer won’t be such a miserable failure after all. Just make sure to get out to Park Ave. or The Social and pick up some tickets to the release party and you’ll be feeling better in no time. Hey, grab a copy of the LP and you’ll be able to relive the highlights as you sit around the apartment and wait for something else cool to happen. story by Jack Cusumano
