It's the most wonderful time of the year, yo! If you haven't been keeping with the tradition, allow me to fill you in on the annual celebration known as Hip-Hop Month. UCF's hip-hop culture club Elements host a month long party featuring concerts, skate nights, art galleries and workshops allied with everything hip-hop. Oh, and for all you UCF students- no gouda necessary. Trust that they've kicked it up a notch this year as Elements builds upon tradition. Break out your finest old school gear on March 7th for the annual skate night from 9:00pm-12:00am at Universal Skating Center complimented by the fresh beats of DJ Luminous. Prizes will be awarded for best dressed, so get creative. If you feel out of touch with your elements or need sharpen your skill, catch the workshops both from 8:00pm-12:00am on March 8th dedicated to producing, and on March 21st at the MEGA workshop, with lessons on breaking, beatboxing, deejaying, and graffiti. As for performances this year, the line-up includes a beatbox showcase at the Social with KID BEYOND, Rubox, Chaz and DJ BMF; and the Procussions holdin' it down at Backbooth. The programming of events continues to grow each year and 2007's new Movie night and other additions sound especially promising. So mark up your calendar- you know this year's party is gonna be hoppin'. Visit www.hiphopmonth.com for all the details of the events highlighted and many others.
