The Month Long, Campus Wide Block Party's Back

It's that time again. Time to break out the linoleum and pop that new 12" on the Technics. Yeah, it's Hip Hop Month at UCF again, and you just know it's gonna be good.

What is Hip Hop Month? It's a month-long celebration of everything hip hop, thrown by UCF's own Elements club (a club devoted to hip hop culture). It's been a tradition at UCF for years, and this year is no exception.

Events they've got going on this year include the Hip Hop Showcase in front of the Student Union on March 8th from 12pm-2pm. This will feature performances by ONESHOT INC., live graff, plus a good old fashioned MC battle. That night there's a hip hop themed skate at the Universal Skating Center at 8pm, at which UCF's own DJ Luminous will be manning the wheels of steel. For all of y'all who've always wanted to break, Elements has you covered with a breakdancing class on March 22nd from 8pm-10pm in room 218D of the Stu-U.

And what would Hip Hop Month be without a concert? Last year they brought you Little Brother, free of charge (to UCF students), right before they dropped their Minstrel Show album. This year it's Jean Grae and Murs, plus local favorites Caveman Theory. I don't think you need any more convincing.

And these are just a few of the highlights. Make sure to peep hiphopmonth.com for the full lineup. Hey, it only comes once a year, so don't miss the party.
